Just picked it up from the local FFL agent. It's a Russian-made, 1943 Izhevsk. Haven't had much time to give it a good look over, but at quick glance the stock is actually in good shape and the receiver looks OK. Came with a bunch of crap I don't care about - sling, bayonet, pouch, oil container, etc. Probably won't have time to break it down and give it a closer inspection until after the holidays.

Yeah, $20-30 for FFL transfers here too. I was tempted to apply for my C&R FFL just for picking up old rifles and for the discounts you can get from a lot of distributors, but never got around to it.
