How do you post google map routes?

I see people posting them all the time but I can't figure it out. I have a map route saved under "my maps." How do I link it to say this post.

Load up your route.

In the upper right corner of the map view, there's a "Link" link.

When you click it, it gives you two fields to copy and paste. The top one is the link to the page that says "Paste in an email or IM". That's the one you want.
