Do you still have the bird and truly want to help it?
Get and eye dropper and use your finger nail to gently open it's beak if it wont. Make sure the birdly is well hydrated. Cut up soft tomatoes, worms, ground beef, dog food... stuff like that. Bugs are the best, so get to digging in the dirt. Cut up the wormies first in small pieces and gently "shove" them in the birdies' mouth like a momma bird would. My mother also would soak oatmeal in water and use the milky juice to feed to birds and then the oat meal as well... soft stuff. We've saved countless birds/ducks/geese..... Oh, get a cat cage or something that you can keep the birdy in...... fresh grass/straw from outside and a stick for it to perch on. Or google it...
