I'm convinced college is not for the yutes. Though, I did get good grades in my Comm classes, but they were easy and I liked them. Now, the Gen Ed stuff, F it. I hated that stuff.

Now, I have more interested in history and politics and things. I'd do much better if I were in college today as opposed to when I was 18.

Exactly, I have a much more focused mindset on my classes being 27. It's crazy seeing how much like children 18 year old's are. I'm usually an enforcer in my class if someone is bullshitting around as well. The kids don't care if the teacher says something, but when the beside them tells them to shut the fuck up they listen. I have a very good relationship with most of my professors.

I disagree.....it helps going right into college after highschool while shit is still in ur head. What I would suggest is that people utilize community colleges FIRST and commute from home as to not become a waste when going to some dorm for the first 2 years.

I started college at 20 (community), but then went to Engineering school for 3.5 more years. At 22 when I started there, I was still a punk and bought all the youngins beer (for a fee of course).

That wasn't my experience at all. Maybe if you were a good student leaving high school that works, but a lot of us weren't good students and were busy goofing off with other shit. I had no issues leaving the Army and going into college. I was much more disciplined and focused on my objective after that. When I left high school I had no idea what I wanted to do, had no direction, and had no interest in college.

I'm 30 and I have no idea what I want to do, have no direction, and have no interest in college.

That said, I've been attending college part-time for the last twelve years. For 2011, I'm officially dropping the fuck out. I notified my counselors last night that I'm not returning for the spring semester.

Congrats! Straight A's for me as well.

Hopefully your motivation will remain through until graduation. I'm a 6th year senior and graduating in the Spring with my B.S. in Biology. My wife is military so moving around really made things more difficult than normal. But I think that going to college after my time in the Navy really brings things into focus.

My cummulative is 3.88. W00t! Hopefully I can bump it up to 3.9 before graduation.

I help teach the general botany lab at UWF and most high school seniors are not ready for college.

This. My first foray into college was the community college angle... and I still was by no means focused. And this was even after basic training and AIT. Now that I've been in several years, had time to really get some responsibility under my belt, I think I will be better able to focus when I start school again next semester. Plus, now I'm not just going because it's what's expected of me... I'm going to school because I really WANT a freaking degree, and have something to do for once I do get out of the military. 10 years of military experience means shit all to the civilian world, unless you go to work for a military contractor.
