Good prices, but I would go with the 9mm S&W, a little better quality than the taurus, just need to fix the trigger problem that you will have with the S&W.

If either of them were a $500 gun I would say that they are crappy, but for $300 they are pretty good

An old buddy of mine had the same S&W... it was pretty good, but he never used it much. It never felt that great in my hands, at least compared to my M&P.

I've read that they have a very heavy trigger pull, but that trying to fix it can lead to other problems.

It's primarily for home defense while I'm out of town, and perhaps something she can carry in the car. I've yet to buy my wife a handgun and she isn't comfortable with the big Browning BPS. The heavy pull is a concern-- considering her tiny hands-- but I imagine she would get used to it with practice.

Which one fits her hands better, feels more comfortable to hold (possibly her shooting if you can)?

Whichever she chooses, then that is the one I'd pick as I think they are both good deals and can go either way in quality.

I never really noticed the pull being too heavy with my buddy's, but it's been a LONG time since I shot it...

In my experience as a female with smaller hands, sometimes the smaller guns aren't always better. There isn't enough to hold on to, so it makes a fine line between too small and too big.

Honestly that little pinky extension really does make a difference, for me. Probably would change this little gun for the better.

Chances are his wife won't be shooting that often so it really won't make much difference what he gets.

I agree, but it all depends on the gun too. I shot a little Glock with the extended clip and I never felt in control. I shot an XD with similar size and setup and I LOVED it.
