It's a shame when anyone isn't able to get their disease under control and it kills them. It's more of a shame when that person has a talent and has contributed something to the world, be it entertainment or otherwise.

Thats not to say that others had things to contribute as well. She had managers handlers etc and a good amt of money to get her shit together whereas the crack head you step over on your way to work has none of that.

I've got around 120 people on my Facebook. There was one Norway related post when that news broke. There were 9 Winehouse related posts when that news broke.

Relax.

It's all about what touches people's lives directly.

Like it or not, music has that power to reach many people, and touch their lives directly, all over the world.

Other than smell, which is one of the 5 basic human senses, only music can instantly transport you to a time and place in your mind.

Music can bring together people from diverse lands and cultures. It connects people.

Music is very powerful. Short of being a politician, it's hard to ever touch the lives of quite as many people.

It may not seem like it to the outsider, but music & fame are not only remarkably powerful, but they're a huge weight, a responsibility, and a burden on the soul...especially to the sensitive [read: most artists].

It flat kills many.

Fame has hurt my family. Fame is actually one of the few things I'm truly afraid of in this life.

Fame is not a nice thing for most who experience it, and yet celebrity seems to be something that so many seek...

Scary. Sad.

Bullshit. This is all about worthless celebrity worship and the fact that we idolize actors and singers over scientists and engineers. Fuck that bullshit, and fuck people who care about these shitbags that they've never even had a conversation with. Ugh.

Not calling bullshit on the fact that music has the power to reach and touch people's lives directly. But that's not why people worship these scumsuckers.

And people have conversations with top scientists and engineers? Unless they do something really big how is it that a regular person is going to even know their names?

OK, then try this one instead. The psycho, in Norway, is looking to publicize his manifesto. Would you rather support that, by talking about him or make him feel worthless, by making it painfully obvious that a dead drug addled pop star is more important than his politics?

Planned or not, it's the way that things should be.

Dude, when's the last time you hummed the Period Tables to yourself, while blasting down a twisty road? Fuck, if it wasn't for music, half of us would never have mastered the ABC's. (If it wasn't for the LMNOP part of that song, I still couldn't tell you where the fucking N is supposed to be.)

I'm not bummed because a singer died. People die all the time, fuck do I care? I'm bummed because the wrong singer died. No, I never had a conversation with her, but then again, I never had a conversation with the 90 whatever Norwegians that just got shot either.

This is not "idol worship" from me, of all people.

I'll miss her for selfish reasons. I wanted to hear more from her.

Oh me too. If you haven't listened to her, please do. For all those that hated her media, listen to her song. What a waste, like so many.
