He doesn't get coverage because he has already proven he has no shot. Other candidates with no shot get coverage because they generate entertaining sound bites. Ron Paul has great commentary but a life time of bitching and complaining just doesn't cut it. Criticizing the solutions other folks have come up with to address problems only goes so far if you never come up with a viable solution yourself. Ron Paul is the manual transmission of the political landscape.

No, Ron Paul is like the seatbelt buzzer. Just bitches and complains that something is wrong but can't actually do anything about it.

You sir are wrong. The problem IS that the government bureaucrats are corporate whores. His solution is to get rid of it.

It's a conspiracy! The Man is trying to keep him down.
Or it's a typical copyright violation. One of the two.

I'll be very general and lump all the media together. Paul doesn't get coverage because the media sucks. He isn't one of their darlings so they won't give him the big sloppy kiss they gave Obama. He also happens to be smart as hell and knows his stuff. As a result they won't have him on and try to make him look stupid. Most in the media don't strike me as particularly smart. It is hard to make a smart and knowledgeable person look dumb when you don't know shit about anything that isn't scrolling on a teleprompter.
That being said, I tend to believe a lack of coverage, and resulting lack of detail, actually helps Ron Paul. The lack of information allows people to see what they want to see in him. The reality is Ron Paul is absolutely, unquestionably, un-electable. Just look at a few of Paul's positions. Obama has been hammered by the left for not hitting the rich with higher taxes. How do you think they are going to react to someone who wants to get rid of income taxes entirely? How do you think the roughly 50% of Americans who either don't pay income taxes or get paid by the government to live will react? How about not only getting rid of Obamacare, but getting rid of Medicare and Medicaid as well? Paul Ryan has been demonized for wanting to only subsidize the purchase of insurance for seniors rather than just paying for the care outright. I'm sure the guy coming in with the "If you can't afford healthcare, then doctors will just provide it out of the goodness of their own hearts" plan is going to do great though. Throw in Ron Paul's positions on the gold standard, foreign policy/military, the Department of Education, the Civil Rights Act, and border security/immigration and he has a position that will kill a vote from just about everyone. You can try to blame it on whoever you want but Ron Paul is unelectable because people will not vote for him. |
