Got hired on as a guard federal tech 1 week before our activation, but because I was leaving for a year, they wouldn't do my paperwork. They are holding the position for me when I get back, but I got none of the benifits of being a fed employee this whole time I'm gone.
Missing out on TSP matching, 120 hrs mil leave, 1 "step" of pay, and a year of vaca increase.

I figure it cost me around $7000

No doubt, and taking a pay cut to take this job. But the hours are better.
Still looking for other federal work. Would really like to get into something outdoors. Something either dealing with fish and wildlife, ag, law enforcement, or a combo thereof.
