Default sturgis thoughts

so we killed drewpy's thread enough with the Sturgis talk. LOL

So rider where are you at in MI?

Gas does Uma ride her own or on the back of your's?

How many miles a day do you guys normally do?

Not sure if my better half would go or not. she is thinking about getting another bike. either a sporty or a BMW650 gs. she normally doesn't ride long trips though so we'll see. usually we trailer her's out and she rides the local stuff with me. This time though I wasn't planning on staying in one place long enough to make it worthwhile to trailer out.

any thoughts on what roads you would take?

I'm in GR, ~3-3.5 hours from Chicago. The most I've ridden in 1 day is 400 miles on a sportbike. As far as what roads, I'm just along for the ride but I-90 would be a direct route.

I'll throw it out there... Uma rides a sporty, not sure if she'd ride it there or not?

I don't have the guts to ride a couple sportbikes into sturgis yet...
Plus it goes on the week I'm supposed to get back. Don't know if I could get the bike ready and go that quick...

Rider - yeah 90 runs fairly close to me so that would be the route of choice for me.

Cutty - yeah that's why I asked about her riding her own. figured if she was the better half might feel more inclined to try it. (assuming she gets a bike)There's no way she'd do it on the back of mine. she's good for about 50 miles on the back then she wants off. different riding styles you know. LOL

Probably wouldn't be a problem now days riding sportbikes there. It seems to have become more of a "professional" type gathering now days. it still ahs it's rowdyness I'm sure but not like years ago.

Sturgis thoughts? Here's mine. Go there before or after the rally. Then you can get a camp site. And ride on twisty roads over 30 MPH. And get into a bar or restaurant. And see the sights (Mt. Rushmore, Motorcycle Museum, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave, etc.). And I have many more friends who have never been on a motorcycle go to the Sturgis rally, than my riding friends.
