Love the gap hate the chaos! It used to be a great place but it got way to crowded with to many people doing stupid shit. That's the great thing about being a local, we know roads that are just as fun that the tourist don't know about. Haven't been back to the gap in over a year and don't really miss it.

I my experiance the best place to pass a car on that road is just before and in the middle of the corner....If you know what you are doing and checked for oncomming traffic at the right time. If you can't see around the turn, ie: through the trees up there, then don't do it. Large vehicles on the gap are best left for the short straight sections.
That guy just didn't know how to ride and dumbassed into the weeds and down the hill for no good reason. How do I know? Been there-Done that.
I have a picture of the "tree of Shame"(before it had a name) with one part hanging on it.. my front wheel, 16 years ago.
