Oh i NEVER give actual store gift cards - I go with Visa Gift cards. Use them where you want for what you want.

I don't like giving them as I prefer to get something personal for someone, but I definitely like receiving them, as I'm picky and difficult to shop for.

id prefer the money.
unless youre being a dick, a friend of mine got a $80 gift card to applebees from his in laws. closest applebees is 130miles away lol

I like to receive them as I am also difficult to shop for. I prefer USEFUL gifts to things I will never use or has no purpose. I would prefer not to give them as gifts, but seeing as many folks cant make up their minds, dont need anything and wont tell you what they'd like, they are the best route fairly often to give someone something they can use to get what THEY want.

I'm fine with them. The Visa ones I like much better than the store ones since there are less limitations as to where you can use them.
I can be hard to buy for since I usually research things and get the exact item that fits my needs and since there are people that are hard to buy for as well....gift card it is. |

It seems quite ofen my wants exceed the budget of people shoping for me. If everyone gets me a gift card to a place that I can get one of my wants, then I can get it myself at a discount.
i would much rather that than get something I have a bunch of already or have no use for at all. But when in doubt, a bottle of Jack wins out!

I have this slight irritation with them but it's completely an association thing and not about the actual gift card. I don't like Christmas and I hate birthdays, so I could care less what I get. A gift card is just one less thing I have to get rid of after it's all over.
