A recent study found that when it compared the health of nearly 4000 people in 3 groups (Cigarette, heavy pot smokers [8 joints or more daily], and non-smokers) that the pot smoking group had the LEAST instance of lung cancer.

The researchers attribute this surprise finding to the fact that cannabis regulates the mechanism of APOPTOSIS, or cell-division, which instructs cell when to die off, and be replaced. This mechanism can become compromised, and cancers form when cells grow to be "too old", and their delayed cell-division results in unwanted mutation to a cancer. Cannabis seems to regulate this mechanism.

I personally think it ALSO has to do with the fact that it is essentially "self-cleaning", it also being a very effective expectorant, and bronchidilator.

...but whatever the reason, it would appear that Lung Cancer is at least one thing that pot smokers need not worry about.

In all my life I've never met anyone who smoked 8 joints a day. Where do they find these people? More importantly, how are they going to continue doing this study long enough to find out whether someone gets lung cancer? They would have to follow someone's life for at least 50 years to find out for sure.
