She had NO IDEA that her best friend was a hoarder. The house was so full the refridgerator door couldn't open all the way and there were rotten items that couldn't be reached. There were bags of stuff bought that were just dropped inside a room with the receipt still in the bag from years before. They tried to return much of it... and couldn't because the receipts were expired.

I can't watch those shows. I'll surf by them... and then go off and clean my own house. *twitch*

I caught that show once and couldn't finish watching. the organizational OCD freakish streak in me makes me start to twitch just looking at someone house on TV that's like that.

I do not get it at all.......

Yea.. saw it before too. Really wish I hadn't.. This woman's fridge was so full of rotting shit I wanted to puke at just the site.. can't even imagine the smell. What really makes it gross is that she still uses the fridge and everything.. WTF. I remember a quote.. referring to a jar of something putrid... "When there are tunnels that's when you know there are bugs in there." And she kept half a carton of eggs that her friend gave to her as a birthday gift.. omg.. why did you have to make me remember this?!

I watched that one. The lady’s son was taken away and she never cleaned the house to get him back.

The last one I watched had a guy who lived in NYC and he hadn't used his shower in over 5 years because he had clothes and all sorts of other junk in it. In order to shower, he would go to a gym near his work and use the shower in the locker room.

That is my ex-MIL. One part of her house is not finished (over 10 years 'remodeling') and in that room there are bags of stuff she's bought sitting on the floor. I needed shower curtain rods a few years ago and she brought out a bag with 6 or 7 new packs in it. Everything she buys though is 'on sale' and super low quality. It's disturbing.

I've actually met 2 hoarders like that, both the sweetest little old ladies you will ever meet and QVC addicts. Unopened boxes and bags everywhere, with paths to navigate around. Sadly, they were both alone in the world, and had no one to care what they did or how they lived, nor did either acknowledge that there might be a problem.
