i suppose ill do a more serious one, way back when i first wanted to start riding i was immediately attracted to hurricanes and older ninjas. almost pulled the trigger on a clean black 80s zx7 but iraq got in the way. three years later and im home and my friends start pushing me towards bikes again so after a little poking around on craigslist i found a workable 87 hurricane 600 for $1100. dropped cash on it and rode it almost everyday regardless of temperature for about six months. meanwhile, someone on the previous sitw which will not be named started a thread about tourist trophy for ps2, wanting to see what the fuss was about i grabbed a used copy and started unlocking bikes one of which was the 954. i really liked the design of the 954 from the game and vaguely remembered an article about them being a good buy in the back of a bike rag i read in the suck. did some more research and after learning about its history and abilities i developed a pretty strong case of lust and it went to an equal slot on my hurricane replacement list right next to the 675 daytona. anyway, we had some friends over for new years and in the morning my buddy has torque on the tv and were watching the opening canyon scene when i remark about how the 954 is a sexy bitch and he says the local shop had one that was nice as hell. tracked it down a week later and bought it on the spot, picked it up the next day and been loving it ever since
the 450? that was just really cheap |

I always wanted a nice blue R6 when I was dreaming of bikes but then reality settled in and I had a chance to buy my bike from a friend.
The price was right and everything else fell into place. I love it and it actually seems to fit me a bit more comfortably than the R6s I sat on. |

I bought my ninja 250 cause I was tired of not having anything cool and plus my dad showed up out of no where with a cruiser so I had it. Finally found one a month later and paid cash.
About a year later I see this red bike at this highway bend I travel on all the time finally pulled over to see what it was. Well I knew it was red and a Honda and that was about it. Did about a month research on the bike in one night. Called the guy, which turned out to be an old kid I went to high school with and needed to get rid of it quick. He dropped the price and the next day I had money from the bank. Wish I still had my ninja. Kid I sold it to is doing a great job on not maintaining her. |

I was looking around for several weeks on craiglist and countless moto listing sites before and after graduating the MSF course. One or two bikes kept popping up in my area and were gone the next day, so after narrowing down my choices to a couple V stars and Shadows that were 45min+ away my father came home with a newspaper from Shaw AFB.
In it was an ad. for an '01 Shadow Spirit 750. I was intimidated by the 750, but enticed that the guy was right around the corner from me. I looked it up and found out it's easy to handle, has a low seat and has 5 gears compared to the 600's that have 4. My father told me a friend of his that rides says he didn't like the Yamaha he had, and that I should check this out (a V star was at the top of my list). Took a drive to the guy's place and saw it was taken care of, and has some blue LED lights for night riding. The price was right, and the mileage was low. Baring in mind how fast bikes disappear around my area, I took a day to think everything over and ended up taking her home. Hell, the only thing I don't like about it is how quiet it is, but that'll be taken care of soon. It's interesting seeing everyone's replies.

i was originally looking for a used sv650, but none available in my area in my price range.
ended up getting the 7r only because it was a good deal @ the time and i just wanted to start my 2 wheel career. didn't really like it @ first and was def. TOO much bike for this noob, but it grew on me and i don't see many of 'em on the streets.

When I bought the ex a new 05 GSXR 1000, I had intentions of trading in his 600. The 03 GSXR 600 was the bike I was use to riding on the back.
I checked all the new 600's at that time, to see what was out there. The manufactures were going to the black frames and black wheels and I just did not care for this. I really liked the silver frame and the white wheels on the 03 600. I also did not want to learn on a new bike. So I decided to keep this bike.

Pretty much left the initial search up to my husband...he is the expert.
After he picked one we went and looked at it and he test rode it...looked good, right price...win-win. I knew it was meant to be when my husband got an email the following week from a coworker who had no idea we bought the bike and asked if Mark knew anyone that would be interested in a Ohlins rear shock for a 92 FZR 600 for $100. We were meant for each other. |

Well I've always loved Hondas, I wanted a liter bike because of the torque and it fit my riding style and I liked the lower end grunt, plus this particular bike was to replace my mustang so I wanted torque. I use this bike to commute back and forth to work which is about 60 miles round trip on the highway and like the extra grunt of the 1000. The 2004-2007 body styles were my favorite and I found my bike a 2004 with only 2000 miles on it for a great price and it was clean, my friends thought it was a brand new bike when I brought it home. I drove to Atlanta (roughly 3 hours each way) to pick it up.
I also have a Ninja 500 that I bought to teach my wife how to ride and I use it for commuting and general riding, just thought it was a great all around bike. We then purchased a Honda F4I because, I love those bikes and the fact that they are comfortable, and a bit more practical than the RRs but still capable performance wise. I have a Honda 650 and a Hondamatic 750 at my shop that were his. |
