i got his info and called the cops, but all they did was give me a claim number over the phone for the insurance company, thats just about useless

im gonna tell him to pay me cash, and just put a twfix sticker over it

im not wanting to turn this in, im up for getting a new insurance policy in april and i dont want to put another claim on my policy, esp since i got that ticket

I bet if you gave him a (realistic) estimate and told him you needed the cash or you would take him to court he would fork over the $$$. If he knows he is illegally driving without insurance I am sure he will do everything he can to make it better without the cops involved.

You're correct. For something small like that, don't bother. Insurance rates are based on NUMBER of claims, not price of claims (i.e. ten $1,000 claims is MUCH worse than one $10,000 claim, although you'd probably be dropped after five claims.)

whats realistic, to get a new tail section is 300ish to get a bottle of touch up paint >$5 so it needs to be somewhere in between, but got any ideas?
