If I was you I'd decide on what(brand and size) bike I want and look for only that bike. Call arounf for insurance quotes too. The 600 is going to be a lot less to insure than the 929 and given your history, I think insurance is going to be a major factor in what bike you get.

already done. the 929 would be about 112 more/year so it'd come down to about 9 dollars more/month. I may end up moving my insurance in the near future though.
Looking at mainly 600s, FI, mainly looking for hondas (f4i's, early rr models) and suzukis, yamis and kaws have never felt as good underneath my butt. want to stay in the 5k-6k price range, dont really want a project bike. want something i can put new tires on, chg the fluids, and start riding. |

You should be able to find an awesome 03-06 600RR for that price range. Kyle got his track RR for under that and it has all the fork work done and a nice rear shock with all kinds of bonus extras. I will keep a look out for one.

I've been scouring craigslist everyday, as well as ebay motors, and cycle trader. any other venues? Im trying to keep my search range w/in 100 miles of my location, but if somebody finds something more locally to them i wouldn't mind a road trip for a good deal. ahh, well i'm looking to spend straight cash, so that wont be a problem. |

Not sure what your plans are, but if you ever wanted to hit up the track, I'd stay away from litre bikes. You can have more than enough fun on a 600. I had a new found love for my bike when I hit the track.
