Lithium Ion battery's do not suffer from the "battery memory" like old batteries did... you don't need to fully drain it |

OK thanks..........Then why is it's life decreasing? Because I leave it plugged in most of the time? Why does that hurt it? Heat?

no leaving it plugged in all the time shouldn't have anything to do with it.
like I said earlier... it's probably because you have programs running in the back ground eating up the processer and in turn the battery. |

Another thing that pisses me off is that when a battery is new, I can drain them down to 8-9% before I need to hibernate or shut down. But several months later, it won't let me drain it that low.......If I let the battery drop to about 30%, then only 2-3 minutes later it shuts down with no warning. the number may not have... but the programs may have. and some programs ie norton or symantic antivirus... are processor hogs...
but I'm not sure... what I'd do... and what I've just done is back up all your stuff and restore the computer to the factory out of the box settings. see if that helps... if it does... start adding your things back a little bit at a time |

just got a new battery (factory) from Lenovo for my T40. I plugged it in, full charge, then unplugged it and let it die. Then I'll plug it in let it run until it dies and charge it again. Only charge it when it's almost dead, that way you'll "train" it to last longer.
don't buy the cheap crap batteries either. pony up and buy manf. batteries. |

What about appling the battery "shocking idea" that you can do on cordless tools to the laptop battery?
