I'll put up my house to your house tidyness wise and i got a 3 y.o. on the rampage, but cleaning toilets and showers etc. is not picking up.

Z starts her masters program next month, and i ain't much on cleaning ( i am the tidy one in the house though)

My wife and I both work full time. I am by her definition a slob. ( I on the other hand believe that we simply have different thresholds for what is clean) Since we both wanted our relationship to be successful we knew that a maid would be part of our monthly expenses. She come bi weekly at the cost of $120 per session. This has been for my wife and I, a well spent investment in domestic tranquility.

this is z (too lazy to log out, i can play the Ed game :laughing)

i start my masters program next month, and plan on doing it full time if they will allow me to enroll in that much (so far the online computer is only letting me enroll part time and i haven't had a chance to go to the college to fix that yet)

between me working nights for this month, and possibly thereafter to be able to continue working full time (84 hours per 2 weeks is FT at my work) and go to my masters program 13 credit hours, i simply cannot do it all.

my house stays clean, the problem is vaccuming, dusting, scrubbing 35xx sq ft. when you move from 16xx sq ft you think oh it won't be that much, but it is when you keep a house a neat as i like to keep it.

my biggest problems are the 4 bathroom areas and the hard floors (mopping and such of those floors are a bitch) plus the shower is CLEAR class, if it was that foggy stuff it would be much better as you wouldn't have to clean it as much...

i can see Ed's point of coming 2 x /mo is too much, but i also feel like if the extra $70/mo will ease some of my stress for the next year and a half while i finish my masters and get to a normal schedule so we can lead normal type lives (ie. not shift work crap) 8-5 m-f is my goal then it's a worthwhile investment.

My girlfriend lives here. Why hire a maid?

Luckily for me, she is not a member of any message boards, and is not likely to read this message.

Or maybe I will not get any for a while? lol

I kid, I kid.

I clean outside, she cleans inside. We do our own laundry. No issues.

I have teenagers, no need for a maid.

I have Lysol wipes in all the bathrooms and under the sink in the kitchen - clean as we go. Oh, that shower spray that goes after a shower is FANTASTIC

We vacuum often, even though we don't have carpet (we do have a dog). And, the tile gets wiped down every other week or so.

I understand Z being busy with school. What's your excuse Ed??

I consider myself a clean/neat person, I have no issue doing day-to-day cleaning. When I had my condo I did have a maid come for "heavy duty cleaning" once a month. Cost was $120.

Well worth the money.

I have a gal that comes in once a week. I pay her $40, she stays and cleans for as long as she feels is fair. Scrubs the bathroom down to the quick and then does the kitchen and dusting. I don't like cleaning but I like a clean(er) house. And with 4 of us and 2 dogs, it's just nice to have someone clean the stuff I don't like to do. Well, that's all of it. But you know what I mean.

It wasn't a challenge to your cleanliness Ed, I was just replying with my thoughts.
