Me either.

Debra Jo Fondren was the Playmate of the Year, and my parents were out to dinner.

His little write up about the solo:

My big news, as of Friday, is that I have been endorsed to solo! It's not a license yet, but it's a big step. Friday morning, my instructor told me to grab a weather brief, and to preflight the plane. I did, and another instructor, not mine, shows up, and tells me he is riding along. He goes up with me, and has me perform some maneuvers, practice some crosswind landings (does the wind ever blow straight down the runway here?) He tells me on base leg, "If you prove to me that you can land safely, I will get out and you can make three in the pattern by yourself." We land and taxi to the FBO, and he gets out. "I wanna see 3 good landings, Okay?" as he holds up his fingers to show me, since the engine is running and my headset is on.

I taxi back to the runway, runup, check the final approach path, call on the radio, and roll onto the runway. Remembering all that Matt and Javier have told me, I push in the throttle, ease into the rudder, and turn into the wind. At rotation speed, I gently pull back on the yoke, and trim to climb out. My first trip in the pattern was good, and the landing was soft, even though it was off centerline. My next trip, however, the guy behind me was way too close, and I tried to get ahead of him, but I came in too fast and floated, so I punched it, and called that I was going around. I had barely climbed out, and this guy was already catching me again, I thought he was going to run into the back of me! Fortunately, I turned crosswind and downwind quickly and spread us out again. My next two landings were "spot on" my instructor said, as he got back into the plane! So there it was, in Waxahachie Texas, at Midolothain Airport when I got my solo endorsement. What a day!
