He's not going to eat that shit. I'll make sure he gets something good during the day...even if he has to sneak off and eat it in the bathroom.

Funny thing is, we could've been really lazy today and just kept him out and everything would've been just fine. I'll have to remember that next time we're running late.

Maybe the concept is more unique to Texas public schools? I remember getting the same deal in 10th grade while in Isolated Suspension, but I want to say that we got a piece of fruit with ours and had the option to buy an additional lunch if we needed....

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

I can understand your frustration but I can also see where the school is coming from: If the kid doesn't want to miss out on pizza Wednesdays, they may be more active at pushing their parent(s) to get them to school on time.

Yea I don't know and since I don't have kids I'm not sure what they do here but that sounds like he's the one in prison...maybe that's their purpose for doing it I guess. Working out like he does in BJJ and eating only that...I don't see him being able to concentrate on much else besides being hungury for the rest of the day.

I wouldn't have fought the lunch detention....but you're not going to starve my kid.

Word.

The rules are made for the masses.

Your average grade schooler can probably afford to ingest a few less calories at lunch.

And thinking about how much he hates his fucking school, which sucks because he's a good student who usually enjoys being there. He deals with all the bullshit gracefully, has patience with his non-english speaking classmates and so-on....but fucking with his hunger could mess with that enthusiasm.

I'm gonna have to find a way to put a nice positive spin on it all...

Nope, not gonna happen. Beef jerky is easy to hide and he loves it.

Another result of 'Zero Tolerance' no room for common sese or flexibility. Those tardy rules were probably created for HS kids but adopted by every grade level.
