Problem is then I would have to find a home for a trailer all summer while living on my employer's property.

Thats a great idea but in this situation I can fit this shit in my room or just leave it hooked to my truck without worrying about flat tires or having someone run off with it.

Its a short bed and I will probably be carrying the motor, transmission, and various other parts of my Mustang that I am hoping to part out tomorrow and literally sell as I go down the road. Not to mention carrying all my tools, jack, jack stands and random other shit.

If it were me,I'd mount the thing and then use two ratchet straps on each end of it to further secure it to the hitch. Well theres your First Mistake

Ive seen plenty of dirtbikes on the back on vans/trucks with that type of hauler...I think youll be ok....Just triple check everything once your all loaded up

With the rough roads you'll travel through Alaska, I'd rig a rachet strap to each end of the rack and up to the stake pockets on the back corner of your bed and that runs the risk of rubbing the paint on the bed too. You're not travleing all nice smooth paved roads so remember that. Can it take bouncing and jarring with the bike on there? Just some things to consider

Tigger hit right... the one that was linked has a 3 point hook up to the truck for "anti tilting" with that over just the single bar into the reciever I think you'll be ok.

Asshat! I wanted a long bed but now I am happy that my truck is 2 feet shorter then it could have been!

Plus, the price was hard to pass up.

Thanks for the advice, I went out and bought various towing things for my truck today. I will buy several extra straps just to have around.

When I get it and get the bike on I will take plenty of pics.

Yea,so there! Hey,Chris you probably remember when those things first came out and everybody was "NO FUCKING WAY!!!"(including myself!). Well,they've been out for some time now and I have to say that I've never heard of one "twisting',falling apart or anything like that and I'm certain that if even ONE did it would be all over the forums like a wildfire!

BTW for the tube to twist in the receiver it would have to take the pin with it,I sure don't see that happening! If you're REALLY worried,I guess you could drill a 3/8-1/2 hole vertically through both the tube and the receiver and bolt it with a hardened/stainless bolt and a nylock nut.

Exactly.

Those recievers and pins are trusted to haul 10,000 pounds and you guys are worried about a 400lb bike twisting it like a pretzel.
