I tried a little... but you have to get the plug in to get the tone mapping feature and the same resultes as photomatrix.

I have Photomatix at home, but I'm at work, and bored... unfortunately I don't have permissions to install software on government computers.. so I used http://www.createhdr.com for these. A lot of them often come out with a lot of noise, but sometimes you get lucky. The last 3 are shots taken by a friend of Tracy's that lives in Hawaii, I just did some HDR magic on them.

There does appear to be a considerable amount of noise in those. I'm not sure if it's the limitations of the camera or the limitations of the program. Decent pics none the less.

that's part of the drawback with HDR... on certain photos it has problems with the lighting... and since it's trying to merge exposures... it has trouble in those areas... you can sometimes hide it... but every HDR photo I've seen has the halo effect to a point. some are just more apparent than others

Like I said, I'm at work.. very few of those shots were high res, not to mention the program does a quick and dirty job of it. At this point I'm just screwing around to see what kind of effects I can get from this program, not so much for the "true" HDR... I need to find some time with my camera and a tripod to go take various exposures and play around with this in Photomatix.

yeah I was just commenting on marko's comment asking if it was the photo or the program. I really need to try messing with CS3... but I'm fuck'n lazy Honestly... the photos that I've done as TRUE HDR and the faux HDR ones there really isn't a dif. if I took a well balanced photo and did a Faux HDR it looked the same as a True HDR. I actually took one photo where I'd taken multiple exposures to make a TRUE HDR and created a Faux HDR from the 0 shot. and compared it to a TRUE HDR and they looked almost identical... I'll see if I still have it when I get home and up load them for your opinion. |
