You guys, though...
I'm sure you somehow see a connection between one individual temporarily dropping out of school in Germany over 100 years ago and the level of parental involvement in a pretty rural, pretty poor school district with a high dropout rate. I'm failing to make that connection though.

Just pointing out that blanket statements don't always hold true...although I will give you that rural Americans (dropouts or not), aren't necessarily the brightest fucking bulbs on the tree...call that a blanket statement, if you will, but I'm pretty confident in that one...

I agree, but then I also think urban and suburban people have intelligence issues as well. To me the largest impact is due to the economic situation more than anything.

Apparently, it's not any more true today than it was the day it was written.
Written at a time when Blacks weren't "people."

intelligence being a relative thing that statement could go both ways. A lot of urban folks are completely useless when out of their comfy element as well.

Apparently they were "people" enough for the man who wrote those words to carry on a common law marriage with a black woman after promising his wife on her deathbed that he would never re-marry.

People enough for his common law wife to bear him numerous children.

Just about everyone is useless out of their element.
Being able to adapt is what counts. Doesn't matter if you are a city nmouse or country mouse.

Mice are used in laboratory experiments.

I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut.

Ahead of the curve.
