it was 25 this morning with frost on the ground and the back end kept wanting to break free under anything but the most conservative throttle application.

oh, and I hardly ever use the heated grips on the sled so I haven't put any on my bike.

I used the ones on the sled a few times and my hands got warm and then started to sweat and then the outsides got REALLY freakin' cold

Thats the reason I don't ride under 30...not out of cold, but out of anticipation of ice. Either by dew or by possible puddle or a sprinkler gone wild..etc

I bet it wasn't 40* when I left this morning. Legs and ankles were a little cold, but not bad. Damn broken Jeep, forced me to take bike.
