if all else fails my dad used to use a squirt gun filled with cologne or perfume on them in a city. they would stay away after a couple shots of that crap.

My wife loves to keep the birds in the neighborhood fed and by doing this she attracts all kinds of little critters...Opossums...Squirrels...Raccoons...and once I saw a Skunk out there.

I usually run them off...well me and my dog and I've trapped a few squirrels and relocated them but the Skunk found it's way into the trap once and that was pretty fecked up.

It's funny to see my dog chase a coon since I know the coon could turn around and whip him but neither one of them has figured that out so as long as the coon keeps running and growling...all is good. I'm on standby in case my boy needs bailing out.

Generally you're fine until the coon gets cornered.

Oh I know a coon is a badazz and you are right. They will whip most dogs one on one.

One time way early in the morning when it was still dark outside I saw a coon on our deck. It's a 2nd story deck and I called Kimo (my dog) down so we could chase him off. Well I got Kimo all excited ready to charge and when I opend the door the coon had crawled up on the railing and my dog bolted right past him and down the stairs to look for him. Well I had stepped outside and didn't close the door all the way behind me and then realized what had happend and there was the coon and me just a couple of feet from eachother with my door to my house wide open and my dog far away running around looking for something to chase. Luckily the coon just sat there looking at me as I slowly made my way back to the door in my bedroom slippers and sweatpants...I then came back out a little better armed and shooed him away and when he made it down the 6" x 6" to the grass down below the chase was on...Kimo ended up chasing him up a tree in the back part of my yard. Raccoons have a crazy sounding growl but sounds like they mean business for sure. As long as they run and don't get a hold of my dog it's all good. If they do then I'll have to help out.

They're part squirrel, part bear.
