[QUOTE=karl_1052;399112][QUOTE=TommyHotWheel;399052]For $7,000 I could have paint, wheels, tires, interior, suspension and engine rebuild w/ power adder plus money for gas and maybe a cage.

Maybe if you are buying used parts. No way $7K is going to get you a 9-10 second motor(that will last more than a week) with all those other parts.

That would be nice to swap in my vert, but for that dosh, I would like a little whine with my cheese.
85 Mustang GT 5 speed. I have crunched numbers and have a plan of attack, trust me, it can be done and has been done. I got the parts for a 5 lug swap from a junkyard on half off day...cost like $30 for 2 axle shafts and front rotors. Next up is a Lincoln rear disk swap, should be about $40 on half off day. I have seen low nines with suspension, cage and junkyard turbos for well under four thousand. The biggest cost in building/fixing a car is labor, do as much as you can yourself and save thousands. Even if you buy craigslist/ebay parts and rebuild them it saves money. I admit I am no mechanic, but I can do everything except rebuild an engine in my own garage. My car is not a show queen, but it looks damn good and I would rather be fast, than look fast anyways.

Exactly, I just got a mystery payment of about 1400 from what I assume is the government and I'm about to leave for annual training which I'm taking my regular work vacation for, can you say double dip? Might get my new toy sooner than anticipated

I had posted about this before, and apparently now BBC has now done a story on it...

The park ave hasn't had a nibble in a while. If she doesn't go by spring ill be very tempted to pull the l67 mate it up to a fbody manual and drop it in a cheap rwd shell. Time will tell

When people make a car fast, it doesn't automatically become good-looking.

There are tons of better-looking cars to use, like the Falcon that Avatar posted.
