No not realy, usualy just an occasional mishap at feeding time. Carpet pythons are prety nippy as younggins but with regular handling they are usualy fine. Once hes out of his cage he doesnt think its feeding time anymore he is very mellow.

Tree going bird eating snakes normally have longer teeth to get a hold of the birds and through the feathers.

I think the teeth are more like cartilage (sp?) than actual bone...they almost swing outward and contract back in when they've got whatever they are grabbing (constrictors). My ex got bit a few times during feedings, and he got bit on his dunlap when he had the retic in his shirt to keep him warm instead of the cotton bag I brought for him to take him home in...I hit a bump in the interstate and CHOMP! Got his ass...lol

Either way theyre sharp as hell,. How big was the retic and do you know what kind it was. beautiful snakes but can be pure evil. I had a 13 ft sulawesi, damn thing was so unpredictable. I did have a large burmese get me on the belly. Usualy they wont bite/strike at flat objects, apparently this one didnt get the memo

snakes teeth are teeth. only venomous snake's grooved fangs face backwards and move into a downward position during a strike. all the rest lay still.
