depending on the root of the pain, both heat and COLD are good, and should be altered. cold did worlds better than heat for me these last three weeks with a sprained lat. go to walgreens / CVS and pick up some roll-on "Freeze-IT" that stuff is the shit, and you dont get it all over your hands in the roll on form.

also NOT ibuprofen, but aleve - much better for this application.

Just to the left of the spine - above the hips? Are you sure it's not a kidney infection? http://health.discovery.com/centers/...ck_kidney.html A friend of mine didn't do anything about it - and treated it as a strained muscle until the pain was SO bad that he finally went to see a doctor...

If it IS just a strained muscle, Thermacare makes a GREAT heating pad...

Oops, I forget sometimes I'm not huge, I'm 5'11" and 230lbs but I've also got a high tolerance for any pain meds and similar meds. I've had dentists refuse to give me any more novacain after reaching their max and even when I was 5, in the hospital to have my tonsils taken out, nurse gave me a shot to "knock me out" in my room. They came to get me and I was still talking with my mom and neighbor, asking if the nurse gave me the shot, they got me under in the operating room with gas and an IV.

Just watch the dosages if you value your kidneys...

After getting pitched off the bike by a couple of cars and another bike I usually just suck it up but when it gets really bad, codeine is your friend. It's OTC in Canada. You can get a generic equivalent of Robaxisal-C pretty cheap. A bottle of 50 might last me a year.

Tiny bare-foot hookers.

Don't get fat ones.

Trust me.

Ditto on the stretching. I go to the chiropracter and massage therapist 3 times a week for my leg and they consistently say that the only way I'm going to get rid of the chronic pain is stretching regularly.

I would look into the kidney infection too though. When you said where it hurts, thats the first thing that came to mind. Especially if it hurts that bad.

One extra strength, and relaxation.

They seem to. But they are for muscle pain, and not pinched nerves etc.
They work well as a relaxant.
