Wimax is faster than AT&Ts "Faux G" AT&T has just started using LTE and it is pretty much nowhere, it lobbied itself into being included into the 4G category with HSPA+. That is really more like 3.5G, not a true 4G.

It's cheap for me. I get a nice percentage discount as a federal employee and I have the unlimited bandwidth plan. Plus I blocked texting and use google voice or email for that.

I am still stuck on 3G though, don't come due for a new phone til January.

As with anything, it all depends on what you are trying to do. I make phone calls, text, check email, watch netflix, take pictures and a do a small amount of net surfing. For me it works great and in this area 4G is pretty common.

I get a nice Verizon discount through work as well. My bill is relatively cheap. If I didn't have the discount, I'd be paying about $100 a month and I'd probably be looking elsewhere come renewal. As it stands, the discount takes a nice big chunk out of the cost and the coverage has been better than AT&T and Sprint in this area. I can deal with 3G for now. I'm on wifi quite a bit, but I wouldn't mind having LTE. They flipped the switch on it here months ago. I'd like to see a little speed boost.

I had a Droid X that I really loved. It was an excellent phone with a nice big screen, a decent camera, and dead solid reliable.

Then Gingerbread came out. My phone was completely unusable. Half the time, I couldn't make phone calls. The camera worked maybe a quarter of the time, if I was lucky. When I opened the camera, though, it completely shut down my 3G until I rebooted the phone. The browser was 100% nonfunctional. Sending an MMS would completely lock up my phone. I could send and receive emails (if I didn't try to use the camera) and SMS. The option I got first from Verizon was to pound sand. A second call got me the option to swap out to a refurb, or pound sand. From reading all the problems people were having with the Gingerbread update in general on the Droid X, it wasn't an option I was willing to take. I've played that game when I had the Blackberry Storm and Blackberry Tour swapped out endless times. I refuse to play phone roulette hoping to get one that does what it's supposed to do. So I got rid of the Droid X and bailed on android for now. I'll keep an eye on them as ICS rolls out and see how it goes.

I thought you guys were all about re-rooting just for the hell of it? Just to get a different GUI or to jailbreak something.

Minus netflix thats all I do. Mine reboots whenever the hell it feels like it. Freezes up. And generally acts shitty. Also the battery life is a joke. Total bullshit. Not to mention Sprints coverage is heinous. I don't care about 4G...I can get it here but I dont use it b/c it's just another drain on the crap battery.
