Never heard 1 wire-mostly fresh air snipe or sparky. I used to run the SITE TV system on my first ship and take care of the shipboard aviation equipment. Plus stand watch in Main Control. I did qualify EOOW (Engineer of the watch).

Below the waterline is a "snipe" no matter what your job is. Sometimes they are also referred to as "black shoes" by the aviation community(brown shoes).
