I used both for my trip this past weekend...clothes in the backpack, SunPass (toll thingy) transponder and miscellaneous other crap in the tank bag.

I use tankbag. back packs always seem uncomfortable over gear and I feel as though they are "pulling" as I'm riding.

all i've ever had was a tank bag.

keep a ziplock bag in there, put all the valuables in there if it rains.

FTMFW......Or there are others that mount on both sides, as long as your exhaust isn't in the way.
