note... when packing your tent... DO NOT ROLL IT. tent's don't need to be rolled... it's a waste of time and it's more of a pain when setting up.

pack it in so that the first thing in is the rain fly, then the polls then the tent stakes, then the body and finally the ground cover. just stuff the tent, rain fly and ground cover... but mindfull not to tear the tent on a stake or poll (not that easy to do)

this way when you go to set up your tent... they come out in the order you'll need them.... the ground cloth, the tent, stakes, polls, then rain fly. makes life easier especially when setting up after dark.
I researched the pad, pretty well. Even though it isn't self inflating like the thermarest, people seemed to hate the thermarest over the big agnes. What were you going to recommend?

As far as the bag, I just looked for something that packed small and was pretty cheap. I saw this Eureka bag at gander mountain yesterday and it fit the bill. What were you going to recommend in this?

I can always return the shit I don't like.

the bag I couldn't say, the one I have is a slumber jack, it's a 40* bag I think... rarely will I camp under that. I think a 30* bag if your using it for motorcycle only about as low as you'd want. I may hit some days that it's 0 but in those cases I'll be packing thermals and shit and will wear that, shit if all else fails I can always get a 2nd bag for COLD camping...

the pad, I have a thermarest... yes some prefer the inflatable to the self inflating... but for me, when you breathe into a inflatable, and it's a cold day (again probably not gonna hit this issue on a motorcycle camping trip) your breath may freeze in the pad and actually make you cold in the night.

just things to be aware of... but keep in mind... I do blow up my thermarest as long as it's about 50 when I'm camping... easier and quicker.

I was looking at that same sleeping bag at Gander just the other day. I want one that packs down pretty small. I have a small one man tent that I've had for years, but haven't had it out. Not sure what kind of shape the fiberglass poles are in. Congrats on the purchase, hope you enjoy the camping!

The bags you have posted in this thread are great. However, speaking from experience, the 30* degree bag sucks bawls in the 75-90* range. You nearly need to sleep with the thing unzipped and flapped off your ass so you don't sweat in it and get all stuck to the inside of the bag. I would have recommended a modular bag like the ones that military have gone to, but they are expensive.
Here is one that isn't modular but is good http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...277089.2280720
I like this one as it has a better liner that won't stick to ya sticky body.

as for a tent any damn tent you get will do fine for what ya need it to do. just remember to keep it clean and don't touch the top when its wet. also remeber to set up when you get home on a dry sunny day to air out and make sure that all condensation is out before you store for any length of time after a trip. I really like that Nomad tenere that you can park the bike in with ya but 400 bones is kinda steep.

I would love to go on a trip on the cycle and not have to worry about how much I am gonna spen at a hotel since I will be just poppin the tent up and sleepin the couple hours I need to keep goin. I hope to do so sometime in the future, just wont be as off road-like as one you could take, Trip.
