The problem with XI is that the community never grew, and it was impossible to solo level. So iif you wanted to start playing, or get back in to it, you were stuck at the dunes for weeks spending hours looking for party's, and getting lots of <Japanese Onry> tells. Unless you played from launch, its extremely hard to get into.

Many things I can agree with in that article, and I could write something very similar about FFXI. One line in particular that went something like this "it is never the fault of the player for any exploits, it is always the company's fault" is something SE needs to learn as well.. I was part of the group in FFXI that duped items in salvage because of the 1-5% drop rates.. learned my character was likely banned along with ~750 of the longer players. At this point I already sold my character, but you don't discipline long time dedicated players for your fucking problem.

In the earlier years of the game's life JP ONRY was inevitable. The later years, though, NA players took over after most of the JP left. It's funny though.. because a lot of the JP people left because NA players started playing. It is damn near impossible to join in the game at this point in time as a noob. There are simply way too many things to get caught up on.

I know, i tried going back. My acct got hacked sometime after I quit. I had 75whm/75/blm/75rdm that I had put countless hours in. Then when i tried to go back and start over, it was impossible. Got to lvl 12 and quit cuz of lack of parties.

All mages, huh? I couldn't do that. 75drg/75war/75drk/75blm for me. All pimped out.. was in the running for a relic when I left, but got too fed up with ls bs. I quit, sold my chara with all its belongings & gil, and then bought the bike. I'd say it's a damn good investment.

Let me guess.. you called SE customer support sometime when hacking wasn't that common and they wouldn't give your chara back? My friend must have gotten hacked at least 5 times because he's too lazy make sure all the keyloggers were gone and had np getting his acct back. After he used his one time "give me all my shit back" with the chara he was sol, though. Got it back stripped.

No, it wasnt quite SE's fault. Acct got hacked, I noticed like 3 years later when I tried to play. By that time, my character was deleted, and they had no logs that far back.

Already got it on reserve! Was able to snag the CE for $60.97 release day shipping with the $20 saving from Red Dead.

I hope my laptop can run it.. fucking PS3 version in March 2011..

You can try the benchmark program on the official site. It gives options for high and low settings. I scored a little under 5000k on high settings, which is way over what you need for 60fps.

I ordered the CE too. The security token and starting 7 days before everyone else was enough to sway me. The further you can get ahead of everyone in an mmo, the better.
