IIRC they were originally targeted at the sand crowd and as a lover of sand volleyball, they serve the purpose beautifully. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of their look either, at least the original design (Sand).

I am in medical and I do wear them. Ugly as sin but comfy all day. Sorry
