yeah where did the aprilia come from?! i thought it was just biaggi until shinya put his just off podium.

i think Xaus may stick his BMW up front once or twice but corser will be more consistent on the thing. I hope they do well.

really? every time down the front stretch out the first corner it looked like both twins, the duc and the ape... would pull on spies... but being such a long straight... spies caught them back...

I have heard on Superbike Planet and a couple other inerviews that Yamaha insiders admit the cross plane engine is down on top end HP. They also claim it doesn't hit the high straightaway trap speeds the Duc, GSXR, or Aprilia do.

This due to the fact they have not figured out how tight they can turn it and it still live. I feel like as they put race miles on these engines and experiment a little more that we will see a higher output cross plane later this season.

That said it doesn't look like they are going to need any more top end for now...

Agreed...there trap speed seems off about 8mph to some of the others on the long straights.

Didn't Haga say something like "he will bring the pain to Spain" ?

The ape is a V4 now... which is a shame, I love the v-twin powerband and the noises they make! But more power to them if they can win races in their first year... c'mon aprilia...

Oh, and Spies is a monster. He surprised everyone as a wildcard in MotoGP last year.

I'm liking the sound of the Big Bang motor. It falls somewhere between a traditional I-4 and a V-twin and the Akra's complement it well. Deep, fat tone that sill has the high revs on top.
