Dumb and different are not the same thing. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Your main focus is "seeing America" or "meeting people", not enjoying ever minute on a bike riding on an interstate for 10 hours straight. Or at least I'd like to think so. When you canyon or track ride your focus is on the BIKE, not the scenary. I'm not saying you cannot enjoy riding, but if you didn't look at anything aroiund you, your bike adventure would be lame.

...There are plenty of paces short of *running the canyons* that is fun. My TLR hasn't left the garage this year, the Busa has a few times, the BMW has alot, and I'm taking the KLR to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in 2 days. There won't be any canyon carving on that bike, but I'm totally looking forward to the trip and I'm going to have a blast.

I haven't gone out and done full boogie dragging knee on a sportbike in quite some time, and I am in no way bored with riding.

If just taking it easy bores you, so be it, but that's not everyone's problem.
The guy is bored with what he is currently doing...and I gave him another opinion. Sorry it doesn't match yours.

My plan now is to sell the M109-R....spend some of the proceeds on engine/exahust upgrades...and the rest as a down payment on a car for my daughter...then buy the Concours next Spring.

Have any of you suffered from a temporary lack of enthusiasm for riding?

Not at all. I enjoy riding too much. I agree though, I will keep the RR, but I am definitely looking for a sport/touring bike like the FJR, Concours or BMW, maybe even a nice clean Blackbird

Definitely been suffering from the "same ole roads problem". Doesn't help that my usual riding spot has been plagued with sand at all the good corners this year.

I still make it out even if it is on auto-pilot at times.

I did the "ride all out every time I had the bike out" thing....for a LONG time....it's played out for me at this time.

I tried to compromise when I got the M109-R....a combination of power....and some cruise....and I won't lie, I fell in love with it's muscle bike looks....it's fun as hell to ride in the mountains and handles well for a big bike....I had 2 guys on sport bikes talk to me at Turner Bend the last time I rode the Pig Trail saying they hadn't seen "a cruiser ridden like that before." It's the ride down there...and back....where the limitations of that bike become apparent. It's just no fun to ride over long distances.....even sacrificing the muscle bike look by adding the wind screen and all of that over the road stuff.

My next bike will still be a compromise....power and performance enough to have fun in the twisties....but...a more ergonomic and enjoyable ride on the way there.

No. I think it was the seating position, because the GTL felt like a bus compared to the GT. The handling was amazing over 20mph.

Buy a motard...then you can go sliding around in the sand.

I'm doing ok, but have a huge lack of free time for "fun" riding, so the majority of my miles have been commuting. Enough so that I'm looking at changing from Pilot Powers to a more touring tire (pirelli Angel's)

Leaning this way myself, and was thinking about getting a Thruxton, but now I'm thinking of not having a bike payment for a while.
