I'm waiting for IBM to come back.

I know little about computers. I just listen to my fellow nerd friends. Most said for someone like me who uses the computer for IM, forums, porn, research, and porn that an HP is okay but recommended to me to spend the extra cash on a Toshiba. That's what I got and I couldn't be happier. They also said that if I was into gaming it would be the suck.

They also said they'd like to see how well a Toshiba would stand up to me. I'm extremely abusive with electronics. I couldn't tell you how many times my Gateway fell to the floor, plus I've destroyed 4 Mp3 players in the 1 year I owned one. Sadly the only thing to go wrong with the Gateway besides me finding some super crazy virus (That I got fixed after weeks of PITA procedures) was the lalptop jack went to hell. It lasted right at 2years for me.

In the two months I have owned this Toshiba it has hit the floor roughly 3-4 times.
You need to leave the laptop on the floor and use it there butter fingers.

If that Toshiba doesn't work out for you then you might need to look at the Panasonic Toughbook.

Damn your hard on the gear. How did you destroy 4 mp3 players?

I've also gone through 12 cell phones.

I'm just rough on anything.

I destroyed my 1st MP3 player from dropping it a few times out of my pockets. It was a Creative. Then a final drop at my gym did it in (bitch fell on a foam mat too. Ain't that some shit???). Other MP3 player was a RCA that was designed for "The active lifestyle". Left it in my pocket while mountain biking and something caused it to fuck up. Then I got another RCA just like the old one. Put the wrist band on my jacket while riding my motorcycle. About 70mph I reached to put my visor down and it popped off to be ran over by a car. 3rd one drowned in a creek when I crashed my mountain bike. 4th one is still useable and an RCA like the one before. For it to play music in both ears the earplug thingy needs to be pulled out some.

My 12cell phones died a lot from being in my pocket while moving pool tables. It'd end up with me having slate sitting on it and just general abuse. And a few of them drowned in a pool. One met a brick wall with extreme force.

My dog knocked my laptop off my bed while I was doing some homework on my desk. Or I'd be grabbing it from my chair that is next to my bed and since it was morning and I'm about as concious as a zombie I dropped it there. Another time I had my bookbag knocked off my desk and it hit the floor. That's with the Toshiba

I'm also on my 4th digital camera. 1st one's flash bulb went out and replaced by the exact same one to have the flash bulb go out again. 2nd one drowned in a river while kayaking. 3rd one was a Sony Cybershot (SUper skinny one) that had the slider part break making the camera think the lense was always on. I fixed it with a blob of solder and now the back screen is all tore up. I have a waterproof shockproof Olympus that is still going strong (I recommend highly).

Honestly if you can make something than can last me. You built some good quality shit.

Damn I hope you have Bill Gates bank roll.

You sound a lot like my brother. He can break or lose anything.

Me I am easy on most of my gear. I did have a bit of a bad run with a couple of cell phones. I would get pissed off at the person I was talking to and then punch my phone. I also threw that same phone against the wall for the same reason. That Nokia was a tough phone.

I'm glad I got that out of my system years ago before getting into more expensive phones.

BTW I used to get a kick out of the mac users talking about how they "CAN'T" get a virus. I always said it was only because no one used them so they didn't care enough to fuck them up.

http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/117188

Macs hit with BitTorrent-embedded malware attack

For years, Mac users have long been rightfully smug about their platform's relative immunity to virus and malware attacks, but it's inevitable that those days will eventually come to an end. (As the Mac gains in popularity, it also earns more attention from malware developers, and it's this lack of malware being actively developed, not some special, inherent security, that have really kept the Mac a "safe" platform for the time being.)

Now we're seeing one of the first moderately-sized exploits to take advantage of Mac users. The iServices.A Trojan horse is an attack being distributed via BitTorrent, where it's disguised as a bootleg copy of the new iWork 09. Once installed, the malware takes administrator access and connects to remote servers over the Internet, where it can be given additional instructions as the author commands, from installing additional malware to stealing information off the Mac in question. The malware creator can also take complete remote control of any compromised machine.

Security firm Intego said that just 20,000 machines had been infected as of January 21 but that the risk of ongoing infection was "serious, and users may face extremely serious consequences" if they are stricken with the malware.

Mac users are suggested to use common sense -- that is, don't try to download and installed pirated software -- and to update any antivirus definitions immediately. If you're a Mac user and aren't using security software, well, this might be a good time to start.

As well, if you've been hit by this piece of malware, a removal tool is available here. (Please note: I have not tested it.)

Almost 2 years with a HP DV9207us and Vista.

Works fine. Installed\uninstalled a bajillion things apps and games. Used it as a media center, game machine, Linux check er out er,hotspot finder development box etc etc.

Still going. Only problem I had was when I used normal Nvidia drivers vs Nvidia drivers from HP

I think Bill Gates has his bank roll because of me.

Somehow I manage to keep shirts for years on end. I still wear shirts from the 8th grade. I destroy jeans quick though.

I still have a Micheal Jordan tank top that I bought myself in grade 7 I believe. I was so proud of myself. Walked into the mall, pointed to the Air Jordans on the top shelf (I couldn't reach the display) and paid $200 cash for them. Then went upstairs and bought a $40 tank top and a bunch of other items. I was so proud of the fact that I bought all my own school clothes that year.

So if you can get a water proof mp3 player and attach it to your t shirt it might just have a chance.
