Great bike. I babysat one for a few months and other than the crappy honda seat, she was everything one could hope for.

They burn more oil than BP.

AFAIK, only certain 08's had that issue and it was kinda random. The friend who had the 08 I got to play with was very concerned about it, but his didnt have the problem.

Not really sure how common it is.
I know two people with them. One had a problem, the other didn't. I think he said Honda replaced the pistons on the burner.

Sorry just saw this but it looks like you're going for the 08 R1 anyways.

If you do a google/Honda forums search I'm sure you'll see info on the 08 Honda's.

Don't get me wrong I love the 08 and later 1000RR but SEVERAL had oil burning/using issues with the 08's and I just wanted to make you aware if you hadn't heard anything about it. I'm not sure about the 09's and 10's.

Went riding with some forum guys yesterday. One had a '08 RR. Said it burns about .4 of a quart every second full tank. That's horrible.
