misshell, yes ours has DVD from the factory.
honestly, he model to get is a '09+ ody EX-L w/ a Rear entertianment system (RES). '09+ have a power tailgate, and w/ the RES it also has bluetooth. or any '08+ touring model w/o PAX, thats what we have.

To add aftermarket you are generally looking around $700-800 for an overhead unit (depending on size) and $1000-1500 for headrest monitors, depending on options.

for around $100-200 you can get a portable with the monitors you strap to the headrest. why spend more than you have to? that's what i have and it works.

misshell , we also have a rear tv setup for previous veh. , and we love it, they even have a bigger screen then our OE one's. and is a nice compromise to factory stuff. get wireless headphones though, and the bigger the screens the better.

honestly misshell, i think a maz5 would be prefect, we considered it before, but for 800mi trips i didn't see it being to comfy, but i don;t think you'll drive that far on the island......lol
it's great little city car, handles nice, the kids your enquiring about at least the older one can prolly slide the door by himself(herself) and the younger will be there soon. our lil mazda has been great, i just had the assoc. belts changed but other then that, no issues in 75k, had 1 recall, but it was nothing really. our ody has a recall right now for a brake issue, that hasn't come up to us, yet.

We had one as our curtosy vehicle when I worked at a Mazda dealer.
It was actually pretty fun to drive, but burns through tires quickly, not sure why. It was serviced by the book, and had no major issues. It had 42K on it when I left there and was about half way through it's second set of tires. Other than that, just regular maintenance. Mileage ran in the low 20's high teens depending on driver. The seats became slightly uncomfortable for the long haul, but overall not bad. |
