That article completely overlooked the fact that some dickhead hacker had found an exploit through the other os option. In order to protect their software sales and the millions of consoles in the wild they HAD to kill it.

Can't they file a lawsuit against the dude that hacked and do the same to anyone else that follows his foot steps? Isn't something in their tos that specifically states they can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law? Or am I thinking of something else..

Maybe, but it "won't put the toothpaste back in the tube" so to speak. What is done is done. Just be glad he made it public so Sony can deal with it rather than keeping it secret and using his ability for his own gains.
