That'd be like me saying "I think I'll try anorexia just to see what it's like."

That being said, 145 is not outside what is considered within the normal/healthy range for 5'8" (I'm 5'6" and 130, and probably am smaller framed than Triple). However, I don't know if shooting down from 170 in such a hurry is healthy.

Not finishing school, will probably never have a career, suck at marriage, in debt up to (and well beyond) my eyeballs... unhappy and not satisfied with any aspect of my life, basically.

Shaping my body in such dramatic fashion gives me control over something, and a sense of accomplishmet should I actually meet my goal.

And because I want to see what it's like.

I don't even know where to begin with this one. I understand the compulsion and the need to feel in control of SOMETHING in one's life. But even once you achieve your goal and see what it's like... the rest of your life will likely still be in the same state as it is now.

I am nothing more than an armchair psychologist, but in my own experience, improving one thing while ignoring the other (and, IMO, more pressing) problem(s) in one's life does not necessarily lead to overall happiness. But that is just my own experience and opinion, and I am by no means trying to impose it upon you or anyone else.

But is hitting 145 really something that benefits you, or would be proud of years from now? I mean, dropping weight in itself isn't all that hard. Anyone can starve themselves.

What is your BF now? Like the average 15-20%? How about measuring it and taking pics, then shoot for 8% while still staying around 165. That would be an acheivement and you'd look good too. Or what about adding an athletic goal. You still need to rehab your knee, so what about training for a century ride or XC race?

This is very true.....doing something for a short gain is not going to make you "happy". In fact I don't think true "happiness" exists on earth. You can be content, but to be truely happy has to be in the afterlife.

Look at the things you HAVE..not the things you DON"T.

So is this one step away from suicide, or two?
