For me it would be a SV650. Its light, easy to ride, easy to maintain slap a custom seat and windscreen on it and comfort won't be an issue. I'm small so the crappy suspension that i heard complaints about won't bother me, or nothing some cheap mods cant fix. I'm also familiar with the bike as I had an SV650s before and I still am kicking myself that I sold it.

I used to think that a dual sport was the way to go if I can only have one bike but i can't fit onto the more capable ones and i really don't like lowering bikes. But being out here where there is open roads I am limited on what I can do on the street. I guess it would depend on where I live, if I lived back in NYC then yes I would probably lean more towards a little dual sport, but since I don't, its a moot point.

I really would like a monster 696 but if I can only have one bike for the next 10 years, I don't know if that would be it with all the maintenance and all. I would think after a while, and all those years it might be more hassle than its worth.

Now I have never ridden a street triple but it has all that I am looking for in a bike as well.

There were more places to off-road in NYC than Nevada? i would have expected it to be the opposite.

It is funny how in the other thread half the people are saying to take an RC51 over a busa, but in this thread the bike mentioned most is the busa.

not really any offroading until you get about an hour or more outside the city but its full of potholes, crap roads and bumper to bumper traffic so going fast isn't really an option. 2 years ago, rush hour was from 2pm to 10pm. 4 years ago, it was from 2pm to 8pm. I don't know what it is now. I can get into manhattan from queens walking a mile to the subway and then taking the train that stops a million times faster than it would take me to drive the 10 miles on the highway.
