Using it right now, for the moment. I am going to do what PC said a little later though, so I don't have to deal with the BS. And then I'll just PM my friends who are still only over there to let them know where to find me.

That's assuming that you're directly connected to the cable modem. If you go through a router/gateway, then you can do the same sort of thing in the router's control panel.

I'm directly connected to the modem. I tried to run my PC wireless via a USB adapter in the past and the connection sucked.

- type in "ipconfig -release"; it should drop your IP address

- leave the system for a while, say a half hour, then go back and type in "ipconfig -renew"; see if the IP address that you get is different than the previous one

IP ban at an end
I tried it. I got "ipconfig-release is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I then tried ipconfig - release (space between the hyphen) and got a whole buncha shit i'm not going to type. It said something about release renew blah blah though. Help? lol

Yup, there has to be a space between "ipconfig" and "-release". What you didn't remember to check was if it gave you back the same IP address. It was in the middle of all that gobbledygook that you don't want to type If it did, then you're still stuck.

Same thing with "ipconfig -renew"; it needs a space.

it's <space> /release if I remember correctly...example:

C:\ipconfig *hit enter now*
C:\ipconfig /release *hit enter now*
C:\ipconfig /renew *hit enter now*

there's a space between the word "ipconfig" and the "/".

Am I remembering correctly guys?

I think what I did wrong was put in 2 spaces instead of one. I redid it as "ipconfig -release" and what I go was "the requested operation requires elevation." And I did write down the IP address and when I re-entered IP config just now, it was the same.
