You handled yourself well Pot. ( I must admit I like the second thought version better with the shotgun )

Our dog is quite vocal at times ( not for long but he barks loud). Here's our 160 lb whole house security system sitting next to my wife

Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

Lots of crazy desperate idiots out there. Be prepared.

As someone else said, "prepared" - not paranoid.

Good job quackpot. I would like to think if this happened to me I would stay as composed as you did.

i hear that same statement here a lot. dumbest thing I've ever heard. you have to be paranoid in order to own guns?
I'm talking about sleeping next to a gun or having it on the counter of your bathroom while ur taking a shower (just in case), not shooting at a range or having dogs. I can understand if you're LEO, but the typical citizen I don't understand.

We keep most of them in the safe however there is one placed strategically in the kitchen with a dish towel to conceal it if I need to pop it out of the holster it's there

There is one in the bedroom available readily. Steve works nights and I am alone. We live more than 30 minutes from the nearest police barracks and patrol officers.

I have had a gun put to my head, as I said before I will never be in that situation again.

Not to mention we have a very large population of bear and there is no way myself boo boo or bianca are getting mauled

As those here that know me are aware, I had to shoot an idiot in my kitchen a while back. Luckily he was carring a knife and didn't die. Otherwise, I'd probably be in prison. Spent a weekend and part of the week in jail as it was. Capitol punishment for larceny? Hmmm, maybe not BUT if you believe you are endangered, pull the trigger! If it's going to be him or me, I'd prefer it were him.
not sure why you quoted me on that one. i don't carry, it's illegal here. i take guns to the range to shoot, otherwise they are all locked in safes 90% of the time. only time i leave one out is if there is a chicken eating critter in the neighborhood. .22 rifle, maybe a 30-30 or if someone has made a specific threat of some sort. happened once, wound up being an empty threat.

Really? I would have thought WI being mostly rural, would be loose on gun laws.

I have a small dog, so a gun was in order. As the story goes, we had the Incredible Hulk smash through our reinforced back door a few years ago. Thank god noone was home and the pup was caged at that point. They basically got nothing but trashed the house. They took a bunch of our bonds that were in a box. Too bad they cant cash them... idiots.

I have a pretty level head when it comes to stuff like that, but I wouldnt have a problem shooting somebody if it came to it. And after the groupings I shot today... better be staying away.

I saw that special. I had a knot in my stomache the whole time. Made me angry.
