I speak mostly Southern English, but understand Mid-west and West. Northeast is mostly a mystery unless spoken at half speed. I do understand the hand gestures of most US cultures though, which is good to know. It makes it easier to know if I should smile or run...

I had 3 years of French in high school and the funny part is I could comprehend the German here better than the French. I just can't speak the language.
My french is very rusty. I know a few phrases. My favorite is Je ne said pas. I think I spelled that correctly. My favorite German word right now is fifty-five. I should have learned it over the past 10 years since I work for a German company, but I haven't. I know a word or two in Spanish and Japanese. |

I took Spanish in college. I know enough to get around as a tourist.
Now I'm teaching myself Russian. I don't really know anyone who speaks it though, so I don't get the criticism and pronunciation lessions you'd get in normal conversation. |
