Typically as long as you are up front and clear that at such n such time you will be out of town on a pre employment planned trip, employers dont blink an eye. Ive done it several times over the years, for family events, twf rally etc. Make sure they acknowledge it in writing tho...

i told my boss i was taking a leave of absence untill the swine flu thing is over. He didnt find it funny, then I told him I am on vacation next week and he told me I suck
