They would have shown in training

True.

My point was that most likely he didn't. It wouldn't be professional.

Those that are arguing that the "I watched this cartoon when I was 8" tat isn't professional have a point.

If the city is going for a professional appearance, it should be covered up. If they don't have a problem with it, neither do I.

Im kinda on the side of it being unprofessional. I've got tats, and I love them, but I also made the decision to get them in places I can easily cover up because as cool as they are, they arent professional and like someone else said, people get judged on appearance. I also refrained from getting the ones I REALLY want because they arent professional. Like on the back of my neck, on top of my foot, my wrist, etc.

I would be 100% more likely to have greater trust in an officer who looks like a professional officer of the law, than in someone covered up with tats who threw on a uniform.

No, they don't. Cops do a basic training type deal before they get hired. Its very possible to get through the thing and be fully trained and certified and NOT get a job.

Shows you how much I know or care about cops.

Mixed feeling with this one. I have tats but they are covered up at work.

Tats don't bother me but while in uniform it looks more professional to me to have them covered.

I'm surprised that he is allowed to show them. I don't care either way as long as he is capable of doing his job. I suppose though in a larger city, like Philly, it might help him on the street as someone else suggested. You get into a smaller town like where I live, they probably would make you cover. Hell, a friend of mine has to stay clean shaved when he works.

What if he has a Prince Albert. You gonna stick you head under his shorts to find out and piss and moan about it?
