I know that feeling! Never got old seeing Harley guys do double-takes when I pulled in on it - really hard not to be 'that guy' constantly blipping the throttle on it. Too damn loud for 'normal' around town riding, but sometimes who fuckin' cares? I miss that bike sometimes...
The 2-muthers on my VFR is kinda loud, but not in the same league as the RC - though still fairly deep & sweet V4 music. I likey, but I try to stay civil around civilized folk in-town & esp. in neighborhoods. In an inline-4, I prefer a reasonably quiet pipe - they so often just sound buzzy & ridiculous with a very open/loud pipe & not sweet like a V tends to, IMO. Some sound decent - I got lucky with the one that came on my GSXR since it's decent-sounding & not terribly loud (I'd switch it back to stock otherwise). I agree that it's more a matter of how you ride/shift that calls attention to yourself, even with a stock pipe (sportbike, anyway). I do think a super-quiet 'sleeper' like a PC800 would be a hoot though! (rode with a guy a couple weekends ago that hauled-ass on one, and you could hardly tell when it was on - like a damn Accord... ) |

The RC 51's with aftermarket exhaust do sound killer !!
My R1 has race baffles and no cats and sounds about like this bike...but better in person. My exhaust and cans are ceramic coated and the baffles are wrapped in carbon fiber to cut down on heat...and that definitely helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRV-3...next=1&index=9 |

I like loud... I just don't like loud without a purpose. Like the guy on the stretched out Busa with the straight megaphone exhaust. Loud for more HP or loud with a nice pitch (no D&D)... The Yoshies on my Tiller sound killer... Loud but not completely obnoxious.

I like the stock sounds on the ER-6N. It's pretty much a car muffler. I'm gonna try and find a muffler with the same I.D. for the inlet and shape/size.
