Calling all rednecks!
Anyone on here into, or have friends into lawnmower racing? Thinking about building one just for the hell of it.

never tried it. I'd like to though. If theres one thing I discovered, if it has an engine and isnt a car, I like racing it.

Does the blade have to be turning, or could you cheat and decouple it.

The blades are supposed to be taken off if I'm not mistaken. They have lawnmower races about 30 miles from me. I haven't been yet but have talked to the guy who runs/owns the track there. Seems like alot of fun! Especially when you get into the highly modified ones.

All the ones i've seen they remove the mower decks. It is the tractor only, a highly modified tracor, but still a lawn tractor.

No blades period. You have to disable the mowing deck. Some classes call for leaving the deck on, and some of the more highly modified classes don't require much of the thing to be what it once was. There's tons of info out on them but I am having trouble finding many builds that actually show anything interesting. I did see where a guy had an engine like the one I have and he put a Keihin cycle carb on it. Damn that thing would haul. I've got a V-twin Briggs 18hp that runs like new and looks it. It's one of the newer ones that has steel sleeves like the Kohlers so it should work well. I just don't know about the frame. I hate to build it just for fun and then end up thinking about racing it only to find out that I have to re-do most of it. ???
