I've always kind of wondered how there doesn't seem to be any lingering bitterness over Alaska. People hate the US for every square inch of land we own, including many parts of the goddamn continental United States, but Canada just kind of shrugs off the fact that we own Alaska (as far as I can tell).

I suppose the presence of the Soviet Union had something to do with that at one point. But since its demise I'm surprised that we haven't had some sort of uprising out of the Quebecois, or something.

Canada has it pretty good. We block them from having to deal with any really bad neighbors....cough...Mexico...cough... And they have some pretty awesome land and resources of their own. They really could fold up their military and call it a day if they really wanted to.

Well we kinda wanted it, but couldn't match your bid of $0.04 an acre.

No matter what you might hear to the contrary Canadians don't hate Americans, except for the odd wingnut on either side of the border.

You guys are the ones who picked a fight with Mexico, well Texas did anyway, but we seem to be getting more and more of their citizens showing up at our border crossings these days.

The day that we fold our military, is the day that we really need it. Canada has a long and strong military tradition. Hell, it's what built our national identity. I'm damned proud of our troops; not so much of our our politicians treat them.

We're one of the nations on Earth that could be truly self sufficient. We've got oil, uranium, fresh water, farm land coming out our asses.... Being insular isn't our way though.

Yes, when they cross from the US into Canada. Oddly enough once they've illegally entered your country, they don't seem at all reticent about entering our country legally. That doesn't mean that they leave again though.
